DSWD, Cebu Pacific Air gives assistance to stranded passengers

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Cebu Pacific Air distributed food augmentation and rebooked flight tickets respectively to the locally-stranded individuals (LSI) sheltered at the Philippine Army Wellness Center (PAWC), Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila today, June 18, 2020.

The LSIs received food packs and Php2,000 in cash from DSWD led by Crisis Intervention Unit Team Leader Mark De Asis, while Cebu Pacific Airport Performance Officer Vonn Hendelson Deza facilitated the distribution of the confirmed flight tickets to 109 LSIs.

On June 13, stranded passengers whose flights were cancelled were transported from Ninoy Aquino International Airport to PAWC. As of June 18, there are 365 individuals being sheltered at the Army gymnasium.

"The Philippine Army will continue to provide shelter and basic necessities to our kababayans awaiting the confirmation of their flights. We are glad to send them home and we will also continue to collaborate with the concerned agencies to expedite their return to their families," said Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay. #
