Army, Foodpanda deliver relief goods

    FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army and Foodpanda Philippines delivered food aid amid the COVID-19 crisis in the country here today, June 27, 2020.

    The partnership aims to provide food assistance to street sweepers, garbage collectors, waste management teams, and local government units’ COVID-19 response teams in Quezon City, Makati City, and Taguig City.

    Army personnel facilitated the hauling, repacking and delivery of around 2,000 bags relief goods donated by Foodpanda yesterday, June 26. Each bag contains 3 kilograms of rice, noodles, canned goods, coffee sachets, and cooking oils. Army Reservist 2nd Lt. Ronnie Liang also extended a helping hand during the distribution.

    “The Philippine Army is thankful to Foodpanda as well as other groups who are actively taking part in responding to the problems we face because of this pandemic. We welcome other private groups and individuals who may want to join us in these activities,” said Army Spokesperson Col. Ramon P. Zagala.#

    Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay led the opening of the program dubbed as ‘Kaagapay ng Mga Bayani’ which aims to provide goal-directed resilience and psychological interventions for mental health disorders of Army personnel.

    Moreover, the MHRC, which is situated at the AGH Ground Floor Outpatient Wing, is designed to assist the PA in the prevention, early detection, treatment, and management of mental disorders; provide directed resilience training and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) psychological interventions; conduct comprehensive neuropsychiatric evaluation for enlistment, promotion, schooling, and employment.

    The PA’s mental health program is anchored on Republic Act No. 11036, also known as The Mental Health Act, which affirms the fundamental rights of people who require mental health services.

    "Through our new framework, we shall forward the promotion, protection, restoration, and sustainment of mental health. By providing proper care, we help our heroes restore their well-being to assist them in their transition from the active service to civilian life," said Gapay in his speech. #
