Army, Pilmico Foods Incorporated ink understanding for soldiers’ livelihood assistance

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army (PA) and the Pilmico Foods Incorporated signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) intended to provide livelihood support to Army personnel here today, September 22, 2020.
Leading the virtual signing were Lt. Gen. Cirilito E. Sobejana and Mr Tristan Roberto Aboitiz, President and CEO of PILMICO Foods Corporation.
The initiative comes as business and livelihood are the most popular ventures among soldiers due for retirement and separation. The Army offers a package of services for military retirees and complete disability discharged personnel as they return to civilian life through the Transition Assistance Program (TAP).
The project aims to complement the efforts of the PA to educate and train the beneficiaries in sustainable entrepreneurship through technical trainings conducted in various PA camps. Pilmico is the food and agribusiness subsidiary of Aboitiz Equity Ventures and is considered as one of the largest milling companies in the Philippines.
“Such partnership becomes more pleasant as it honors our soldiers. It is about recognizing their deeds. This arrangement in essence, enables the Army to deliver its thrusts to uplift the morale and welfare of its personnel, which goes beyond service,” said Lt. Gen. Sobejana.
