Army Vice Commander retires from service

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Vice Commander Philippine Army officially bows out from the military service here today, Oct. 23, 2020.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana graced the retirement ceremony of Maj. Gen. Reynaldo Aquino who served as the Army’s 31st Vice Commander. The CGPA also led the pinning of Proficient status medallion on Office of the Vice Commander’s Plaque for establishing the functionality of its strategy execution mechanism.

Maj. Gen. Aquino chaired various boards namely the Gender and Development Focal Point Committee; the Philippine Army Housing Board; Office of Ethical Standards and Public Accountability; the PA Board of Senior Officer; and the Office of the Assistant Chief for Plans and Programs’ Capability Development Board and the PA Legislative Affairs Board.

His leadership made significant progress on the Gender and Development mainstreaming and capacity-building programs while strengthening links with the Philippine Commission on Women, non-government organizations, and people’s organization. With his guidance, the Army has developed an information system for real-time reports on the Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net worth of each personnel, passed resolutions, deliberated bills and legislative proposals. He further facilitated programs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Maj. Gen. Aquino served as The Inspector General of the PA in 2019 before assuming as the Vice Commander. He also previously commanded the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne). He is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy “Sinagtala” Class of 1986.

“You try to make the best out of everything by bringing out the best in you, those around you, and the Organization. Motivating those you lead makes you an exceptional leader,” said Lt. Gen. Sobejana. “With your retirement, the Army will unfortunately lose one of its visionary leaders. But, I am confident that those whom you mentored will carry on the same diligence, which you nurtured for years,” said the CGPA in his remarks.#
