FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The troops from 2nd Infantry Battalion (2IB) under 9th Infantry “Spear” Division encountered NPA terrorists in an operation today, January 20, 2021 at Brgy. Bat-ongan, Mandaon, Masbate.
The 2IB encountered more or less 40 rebel forces, leading to a firefight lasting for about 30 minutes, after which the enemies withdrew towards the nearby barangay. Items such as one M16 rifle, anti-personnel mines, and Molotovs were seized at the encounter site.
“I laud our troops for their successful operation against those who threatens the security of our state. Rest assured that the Philippine Army will continue to support its soldiers by intensifying unit trainings that will boost their morale and welfare,” said Commanding General Philippine Army Lt. Gen.
