Office of Reservist and Retiree Affairs welcomes new chief

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Office of Reservist and Retiree Affairs, G9 of the Philippine Army welcomed Col. Jaime R. Datuin as its new Chief in a ceremony here today, September 21, 2021.

The Chief of Staff, Philippine Army Brig. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong presided the Change of Chief of Office Ceremony as Col. Datuin took over the position from Col. Francis Carter L. Sibal.

Col. Datuin is a graduate of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Officer Candidate School in 1994. He held key positions from various units such as Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Intelligence, Eastern Mindanao Command; Commanding Officer of the 75th Infantry Battalion, 4th Infantry Division; and Deputy Group Commander of the Reserve Center, Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserve Command. His familiarity and expertise on the duties of the G9 was honed during his stint as the office’s deputy.

Col. Sibal, on the other hand, served as the offices’ Chief since March 2020. He was commissioned through Republic Act 2334 in 1990. He facilitated significant activities such as Reservist and Retiree Administrators Convention, ROTC Forum, and APB Direction Setting during his stint. He also pursued the implementation of 649 Reservist and Retiree Affairs enhancement activities; and the deliberation of Advance ROTC Cash Incentive, Promotion or Adjustment of Rank, and Donning of Ranks of Reservists. Col Sibal will assume as the Deputy Commander of the Army Reserve Command, Philippine Army.

Brig. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong, the Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army, extended his well wishes to both Col. Sibal and Col. Datuin.

“To the OG9 family, welcome your new chief as his designation embodies the continuity of your hard work and hope for further initiatives. Work with your new chief as one team and continue to offer your strength and wits to develop our reserve force to be equally capable with our regular force,” Brig. Gen. Capulong remarked during the ceremony.

“Palagi rin nating isapuso at isaisip ang paalala ng ating Punong Heneral; ‘let us sustain excellence amidst the challenges,’ and ‘instill among ourselves the culture of discipline.’ Through this, we can triumph against all odds and win the peace for our country,” Brig. Gen. Capulong concluded.
