Army engineers to help build key road project in upland Davao del Norte

The Philippine Army’s 534th Engineer Construction Battalion (534ECB) joined hands with other government agencies for the construction of a key road project that will benefit indigenous communities at Sitio Sambulungan, Barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod, Davao del Norte on January 13, 2022.
1003 Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Consolito Yecla led the groundbreaking ceremony for the 27.2-kilometer road project, dubbed as “Ang Dalan sa Panaghiusa, Kalinaw ug Pag-uswag.” 534ECB deployed one engineer equipment team and a bulldozer for the project while the Davao del Norte provincial government and the Talaingod municipal government provided heavy equipment support. The road project will ease the delivery of basic services for indigenous peoples in Talaingod and contribute to security operations in the area.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr. lauded 534ECB troops for taking part in multi-agency nation-building projects as he vowed to push down much-needed resources to all Army units nationwide.
“As the Philippine Army’s developmental arm in this part of Mindanao, your role is vital to the attainment of our organization’s mission. Your skills and competency in performing a non-combat mission are important in winning the peace against various threats that our country and its people are facing," the CGPA remarked.
