French general reaffirms defense ties with PA

Général de brigade (Brigadier General) Caroline Salahun, Asia-Pacific Director of France’s Direction Générale de L'armement (Directorate General of Armaments -DGA) rendered a courtesy call on Army Vice Commander Maj. Gen. Camilo Z. Ligayo to reaffirm strong ties between the two armies at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on September 15, 2022.
 
During the meeting, Maj. Gen. Ligayo and Brig. Gen. Salahun discussed the PA modernization program and the acquisition process. Relative to this, the Army Vice Commander stated that the PA is currently developing its combat engineer, air defense, and aviation capabilities. For her part, Brig. Gen. Salahun highlighted the possible assistance that the French government can provide to PA. She also tackled the importance of market research in the framework of technical invention, within the context of modernization.
 
For his part, Colonel Eric Genot, the Defense Equipment Attache, DGA, said that the French government is willing to help PA acquire modern defense equipment. He also highlighted the reliability of French military equipment during combat operations.
 
DGA is the French government’s defense procurement and technology agency responsible for the program management, development and purchase of weapon systems for the French military.
