Army reservists join Manila coastal cleanup drive

Reservists and troops from the National Capital Region Regional Community Defense Group (NCRRCDG) took part in a multi-agency clean-up drive in the city of Manila's coastal areas on September 17, 2022.

NCRRCDG reservists and enlisted personnel from the 1304th and 1305th Community Defense Centers collected 177 sacks of trash during the clean-up drive at the Lawton Ferry Station, Escolta Ferry Station, and Buhangin Creek, an estuary of the Pasig River. The activity, dubbed “Linis Pinas: Fighting for Trash-Free Seas-Pilipinas: Ending the Flow of Trash at the Source”, was initiated by the Pasig River Coordinating and Management Office.

NCRRCDG’s participation in the clean-up drive shows the unit’s commitment not only to its mission but also in advocating environmental protection and promotion, NCRRCDG Commander Col. Ferdinand Rey Ga said.

It can be noted that the Army is prioritizing the development of its reserve units that can act as force multipliers and as expansion base of the active force in times of war, invasion, rebellion or other national emergencies.
