FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Alaska, Brig. Gen. Gregory Day pays a courtesy call to Philippine Army Vice-Commander, Maj. Gen. Reynaldo M. Aquino here today, September 20, in line with the conduct of the ongoing Combined Airborne Operations Exercise between the two armies.

The said exercise aims to demonstrate the interoperability between the Philippine Army and the United States Army Pacific Command and enhance the capabilities of the First Scout Ranger Regiment and Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) in combined airborne and territorial defense operations. It started with sustainment trainings last September 15 with the actual jump scheduled on September 22 in Pampanga.

Aquino and Day reiterated both parties’ commitment to the successful conduct of the exercise and discussed the possibility of conducting succeeding exercises with increasing complexity.

“The Philippine Army constantly seeks to develop readiness and capabilities of the Army in responding to security threats as well as maintaining interoperability between allied forces. We extend our gratitude and appreciation for the continuous development of our defense relations with the US.” said Aquino.
