Army and Navy combat engineers join hands to level-up skills

The Philippine Army's 525th Engineer Combat “Mandirigtas” Battalion of the 51st Engineer Brigade headed by Lt. Col. Carlo O. Ganancial rendered a courtesy call on Lt. Commander Wally C. Casas, Battalion Commander of 3rd Naval Combat Engineer Battalion (3NCEB), Naval Combat Engineer Brigade, Philippine Navy at Bonifacio Naval Station, Fort Andres Bonifacio, Metro Manila on the 19th of May 2022 to foster stronger ties between the two combat support units.

Lt. Col. Ganancial and Lt. Commander Casas discussed the conduct of joint trainings and exercises in combat engineer and disaster response. 525ECB and 3NCEB also pledged to bolster operational readiness of both units through shared capacity-building activities.

The 525ECB is the primary humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) unit of the Philippine Army. The unit has played a crucial role in saving lives in the aftermath of calamities such as typhoons and floods.

The partnership between the two units is in line with the thrust of Army Commanding General Lt . Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., to enhance the individual skills of soldiers and unit capabilities to bolster mission-accomplishment.
