Army athletes shine in Mount Banahaw de Lucban duathlon

Army athletes proved anew their dominance in the local racing scene as they bagged seven medals—including three golds—in the 8th Mt. Banahaw De Lucban Duathlon in Lucban, Quezon on January 22, 2023.
 
Army athletes completed a sweep of the men’s overall category with Private First Class Robinson Esteves bagging the first place. His teammates Staff Sergeant Alvin Benosa and Corporal Cris Joven came up second and third placers respectively. On the distaff side, Private Genesis Maraña stamped her class in the overall women’s category.
 
Meanwhile, Private Rick Joebert Balmes and Private Christian Dimaculangan copped the second and third spots in the men’s 25 to 34 age bracket. Not to be outdone, Staff Sergeant Reynaldo Navarro emerged as the top duathlete in the men’s 45 to 54 age bracket.
 
The Army leadership lauded Army athletes for bannering the soldier-athlete’s brand of excellence in an array of sporting events. The Army leadership called on them to focus on honing their skills and talents so they can sustain their winning momentum this year.
