Army celebrates its contribution to AFP's national endeavors

The Philippine Army celebrated its noteworthy contributions in accomplishing its mandate as a professional, capable, and responsive force provider during the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) 88th founding anniversary rites led by the President and Commander-in-Chief Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at the Lapu-Lapu Grandstand, Camp Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City, Metro Manila on December 21, 2023.

Anchoring on the theme, “AFP@88: Rising Over the Challenges in Service to the Nation,” the ceremony highlighted the military’s accomplishments and contributions to the country’s peace and security. The Philippine Army displayed its newly-acquired assets featuring the ASCOD II Sabrah Light Tank, ATMOS 155 self-propelled howitzer, armored mortar carriers, and light armored vehicles.

During the event, the President acknowledged the contributions of AFP members for their dedication, courage, and exemplary performance in accomplishing their missions despite the country's existing security challenges.

The President also hopes that the AFP will continue to soar high as an organization that defends our country and serves the Filipino people. “As you continue to play a vital role in the government’s various initiatives, it is my fervent hope that your institution will remain relentless in countering lawless elements that intend to sow fear and distrust amongst our people,” President Marcos said.
