Philippine Army joins 82nd Araw ng Kagitingan commemoration

The Philippine Army joined the commemoration of the 82nd Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Mt. Samat National Shrine, Pilar, Bataan on April 9, 2024.

President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the ceremony which is anchored on the theme “Pagpaparangal sa Kagitingan ng mga Beterano: Saligan para sa Nagkakaisang Pilipino." Moreover, Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido joined the activity together with Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. and the military top brass.

The annual tradition honors Filipino heroes who fought and died for our country and also recognizes the legacy of war veterans in helping their communities.

“The Shrine, and all the nameless Filipino war heroes that it represents, beckon to us. May we all be inspired by their unbreakable will, unflappable courage, and undying patriotism. The ‘spirit that made Bataan stand’ cannot and must never fail,” President Marcos remarked.
