Office of the Secretary Army General Staff welcomes new chief

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – In a Change of Chief of Office Ceremony, the Philippine Army Office of the Secretary Army General Staff (OSAGS) welcomed its new leadership here today, Mar. 2, 2020.

Presiding Officer Maj. Gen. Rowen S. Tolentino, the Army Chief of Staff, led the ceremonial turnover of the office symbol from the outgoing OSAGS chief, Col. Patrick B. De Villa to the incoming Lt. Col. Ivan V. San Jose.

Prior to his new post, San Jose was the Commanding Officer of the 18th Infantry Battalion of the 1st Infantry Division and held various positions in OSAGS. He was assigned as OSAGS’s acting Chief in 2012, Admin Chief in the same year, and the Assistant Manager of the Army Officers Clubhouse in 2013. He was then reassigned as the Production Branch Chief in the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence in 2014.

San Jose is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Marilag” Class of 1995 and took a Bachelor of Science in Management in the said academy. In 2017, he was able to complete the Armed Forces of the Philippines Command and General Staff Course. San Jose also graduated as Cum Laude after completing his Master’s Degree in English in 2011. In addition, he also holds a Master’s degree in Public Management Major in Development Security.

Meanwhile, De Villa’s stint covered the successful conduct of PA’s 122nd Day celebration, the creation of military correspondence instructional videos, and the drafting of the protocol handbook. He also headed the OSAGS and the Army Officers Clubhouse’s facilities improvement. Moreover, he was able to ensure the accuracy and completeness of every document presented to the Command and maintain the close coordination with the PA General, Personal, Special and Technical Staffs.

Always remember that your role is vital in the fulfillment of our strategic direction of sustaining the momentum in capacitating the Army towards mission effectiveness,” said Tolentino.#
