Army installs new Chief Engineer

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – In a change of chief of office ceremony, the Philippine Army installed the new Army Chief Engineer here today, March 3, 2020.

Army Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Rowen S. Tolentino led the ceremonial turnover of the office symbol from the outgoing chief engineer, Col. Gerardo P. Catindoy to incoming acting chief, Col. Lawrence C. Carreon.

The Office of the Army Chief of Engineers (OACE) provides combat support in the battlefield in terms of mobility, counter-mobility and survivability. They are also employed as support of nation building civil work programs and disaster relief operations.

Prior to his assumption, Carreon served as the officer in charge of the OACE since 2018 and was previously assigned as the commanding officer of 564th Engineering Combat Battalion. He finished his Masters in National Security Administration at the National Defense College in 2016 and attained his Masters in Public Management Major in International Development and Society in the Development Academy of the Philippines in 2012.

On the other hand, Catindoy will assume as the 53rd Engineer Brigade’s commander. He is a licensed engineer and a graduate of BS Civil Engineering at the Divine Word University, Tacloban City. He attained a Master of Science in Civil Engineering degree at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City and a Master of Engineering Science degree at the University of New South Wales, in Sydney, Australia.

Tolentino enjoined the OACE personnel to continue their working hard towards accomplishing their mission and in implementing development support initiatives that will help the Army realize its modernization programs and achieve operational and organizational excellence. “With the resolve and firm commitment as the engineers, we shall realize our vision of a world-class Army that is a source of national pride,” said Tolentino.#
