Navy Chief pays courtesy call to CGPA

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Navy (PN) Flag Officer – in – Command paid a courtesy call to the Philippine Army Commanding General here today, Mar. 03, 2020.

The visit aims to further strengthen the PA and PN’s coordination in terms of interoperability operations geared at contributing to the overall mission accomplishment of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

During the call, Rear Admiral Giovanni Carlo Bacordo and Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay discussed matters pertaining to Navy’s transport of Army capabilities and forces in order to deliver timely support to various Army units located at the country’s far islands.

Together with other senior Army and Navy officers, they also talked about possible joint exercises that will equip the forces in addressing future threats. One suggestion is the idea of a “ship to shore training”, wherein instead of simply transporting the troops, they will undergo trainings while onboard and upon landing, they will perform exercises like island retaking.

Gapay and Bacordo both extended their gratitude for the cooperation, “Let us continue our interoperability in terms of continuous training, to address future threats that hamper the peace and progress of our nation. I am positive that in our mutual endeavors, along with dedication and passion to serve our fellow Filipinos, we will be able to accomplish our mission of protecting the country,” Gapay said.#
