Philippine Army, U.S. Army teams sharpen medical capabilities

A Philippine Army team and their U.S. Army counterparts participated in Exercise Balikatan’s Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3) lecture and demonstration at the U.S. Army’s 10th Field Hospital deployed in Lal-lo, Cagayan on April 30, 2024.

The Philippine Army's 5th CMO Battalion's Civil Affairs Team, the Forward Service Medical Company (FSMC), a unit within the Service Support Battalion of the 5th Infantry Division, and their U.S. counterparts participated in the TC3 Training. Said training is a crucial component of modern military preparedness, capacitates soldiers with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide prompt and timely medical aid to their wounded fellows under high-stress combat scenarios.

The ongoing Balikatan Exercise includes a series of subject matter expert exchanges (SMEEs) and live fire drills between Filipino and American training units. Balikatan builds on the foundation set during Exercise Salaknib as it also showcases additional joint operations at a larger scale.
