Philippine Army Installs New Inspector General

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army installs a new Inspector General as Maj. Gen. Gilbert F. Saret retires effective on September 20, 2021.

In a virtual ceremony presided by the Commanding General Philippine Army, outgoing Inspector General Maj. Gen. Saret relinquished the position to Brig. Gen. Roy M. Galido.

The Inspector General, PA ensures the Army’s professionalism, effectiveness, efficiency, and integrity by overseeing the consistent performance of Army units and offices in the areas of mission accomplishment; security preparedness and readiness; morale, welfare, and discipline of personnel; and proper utilization of resources.

Brig. Gen. Galido is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990. Prior to his new position, he led the 601st Brigade, 6th Infantry Division as its Brigade Commander. Brig. Gen. Galido also held various key positions in the 2nd Infantry Division, Office of Army Finance Management, 38th Infantry Battalion, 40th Infantry Battalion, and Task Group Bigkis Lahi from the 6th Infantry Division.

On the other hand, Maj. Gen. Saret rendered 37 years in the service and led the Office of The Inspector General (OTIG) since April 2020. He is a member of PMA “Maringal” Class of 1988. Under his leadership, Maj. Gen. Saret prioritized the morale and welfare of his people as they ensure that Army units and offices performed their mandate with excellence and professionalism.

The Commanding General Philippine Army Maj. Gen. Andres C. Centino congratulated Maj. Gen. Saret for his retirement, and Brig. Galido for his new position.

“Maj. Gen. Saret has demonstrated competency, consistency, and particularly, the character that has not only served as assets for the Army but has also made him a highly admired and respected gentleman and leader. Indeed, as he prepares to hang his uniform, these will be the legacies he leaves behind for the organization. To Brig. Gen. Galido, I enjoin you to build on the strong foundations and sustain the momentum of OTIG as started by your predecessors. Rest assured that HPA will give its full support to enable you and OTIG to fulfill your mission,” Maj. Gen. Centino said during the ceremony. #
