Philippine Army installs new assistant chief of staff for operations

The Philippine Army installed a new Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, G3 in a turnover ceremony on Friday, January 21, 2022, at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Incoming chief Col. Alvin Luzon formally assumed the post from outgoing OG3 chief, Col. Alexei Musñgi in a Change of Chief of Office Ceremony presided by Chief of Staff, Philippine Army (CSPA) Maj. Gen. Roberto Capulong.
Prior to his assumption, Col. Luzon served as executive assistant of the Philippine Army’s Office of the Commanding General and as head executive assistant of former Army Commanding General and now Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines Gen. Andres Centino. He held key positions at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Western Mindanao Command and the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He also served as commanding officer of the 53rd Infantry Battalion of the 1st Infantry Division.
Col. Luzon is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Bantay Laya” Class of 1994. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of the Visayas, Master of International Security Studies from the Sydney-based Macquarie University, Master in Public Management major in Development Security from the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), and Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University in Washington D.C., USA.
Meanwhile, Col. Musñgi will assume as the commander of 1002nd Infantry Brigade, 10th Infantry Division after leading OG3, PA for more than two (2) years since December 2019. He is a member of PMA “Maalab” Class of 1993.
“Col. Luzon, I know that being in this position is challenging, however, with your qualifications, I am sure that you will continue to build on the gains achieved by your predecessors", Maj. Gen. Capulong said. “Col. Musñgi, thank you for sustaining the winning course of the Philippine Army. Indeed, you have served your position with competence and excellence,” he remarked.
