The Philippine Army Lady Battalion bagged the Pinay Ballers League 2022 championship plaque after completing a finals sweep of the Philippine Navy Lady Sailors at the Boost Basketball Court, Caloocan City on September 17, 2022.
The Army Lady Battalion, bannered by star players Private First Class Janine Pontejos and Private First Class France Mae Cabinbin, nailed a two-game finals sweep of the gritty Lady Sailors. The Army’s lady ballers finished the season with an immaculate 9-0 win-loss tally, coming off from earlier domination of the tournament’s eliminations round.
The tournament saw the action of elite teams from the military’s major branch services and collegiate teams from the University of the Philippines, De La Salle University, and Adamson University, among others.
Special Service Center (SSC) Director Colonel John Oliver F. Gabun lauded the Army Lady Battalion for showcasing women's power and excellence on the hard court. “From the Women's National Basketball League to the Pinay Ballers League, 2022 has truly been a banner year for the Army’s lady ballers. Continue your winning momentum. We will support you all the way,” the SSC Chief remarked.
