Army welcomes new TRADOC commander

The Philippine Army installed the commander of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Philippine Army on February 27, 2023 at Camp O’Donnell, Santa Lucia, Capas, Tarlac.
 
Brig. Gen. Luis Rex D. Bergante assumed as the TRADOC Commander in a Change of Command ceremony. Prior to his new post, Brig. Gen. Bergante served as the Assistant Division Commander of the 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division (7ID). He also held key positions such as Acting Commander of 7ID; Brigade Commander of 1001st Infantry Brigade and Chief of Staff of the 10th Infantry “Agila” Division. Brig. Gen. Bergante is a member of the Philippine Military Academy "Bigkis-Lahi" Class of 1990 and holds a Masters in Business Administration from UP Diliman.
 
Meanwhile, the outgoing Acting Commander Brig. Gen. Alvin V. Flores will assume as the TRADOC Deputy Commander. Brig. Gen. Flores also served as Director of the Doctrine and Capability Integration Center (DACIC), TRADOC; Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations (G7) and Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel (G1) of the 5th Infantry “Startroopers” Division (5ID); and Commander of 17th Infantry Battalion (17IB) under 5ID. Brig. Gen. Flores is a member of the Philippine Military Academy "Tanglaw-Diwa" Class of 1992 and holds three graduate degrees – a Master in Business Administration from De La Salle University, Master in Public Management from Development Academy of the Philippines, and Master in National Security Administration from National Defense College of the Philippines.
 
The presiding officer Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. conveyed his well wishes to Brig. Gen. Bergante as he takes on a new role and to Brig. Gen. Flores on his success. “To Brig. Gen. Flores, thank you and keep up the good work as Deputy Commander of TRADOC. Brig. Gen. Bergante, with your leadership, I expect that you will continue to pursue the foundations that were set forth by your predecessors, identify and address the Command’s varying issues and concerns, and implement innovative and pragmatic programs and policies for the unit to maintain its reputation,” said Lt. Gen. Brawner Jr. in his message.
