Army gears for CATEX “Katihan”

Philippine Army planners gathered for the final planning conference of the first-ever Combined Arms Training Exercise (CATEX) “Katihan” in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija on February 28, 2024.

The Philippine Army is set to conduct CATEX “Katihan” next month. The exercise bolsters the Army's shift from internal security to territorial defense operations.

The large-scale exercise will effectively test the Army’s capability to move, maneuver, and sustain large-scale forces during combat operations. CATEX "Katihan", which will be held in various camps in Nueva Ecija and Tarlac, will involve more than 5,000 soldiers involving 4,706 dismounted contingents and 1,463 mounted contingents from various Army units in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
