4ID and 6ID deploy contingents for upcoming CATEX “Katihan”

Mindanao-based 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division (4ID) and 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division (6ID) deployed their respective contingents for the first-ever large-scale Combined Arms Training Exercise (CATEX) "Katihan" on February 28, 2024.

The 4ID deployed the 42nd Division Reconnaissance Company (42DRC) as contingent for CATEX "Katihan" in a send-off ceremony at Bancasi Airport, Butuan City, Agusan Del Norte. Meanwhile, the 6ID’s 62nd Division Reconnaissance Company (62DRC) embarked on their journey to Sangley Point Cavite aboard the Philippine Navy Vessel LS551 following their departure from Polloc Wharf in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.

42DRC and 62DRC troops will join more than 6,000 mounted and dismounted troops from various Army units in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao that will gather in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija. The exercise’s two battle phases will be held in various military installations in Nueva Ecija and Tarlac

CATEX “Katihan” will effectively test the Army’s capability to move, maneuver, and sustain large-scale forces during combat operations. It can be noted that earlier iterations of the Combined Arms Training Exercise involved students of various career and specialization courses facilitated by Army training schools and centers.
