Army Chief stresses the value of engineers in territorial defense

The Army Commanding General (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido visited the 53rd Engineer Brigade (53rd EBde) in their Headquarters at Camp Lapu-Lapu, Brgy. Apas, Cebu City on March 1, 2024 and emphasize the importance of their expertise and experience in the Army’s capability development.
 
The engineer troops, led by their Commander, Brig. Gen. Maynard G. Camarao welcomed the CGPA and conducted a unit briefing to discuss the programs, plans, and participation of the 53rd EBde in the upcoming first-ever large-scale CATEX “Katihan”.
 
During the “Talk to Troops”, the Army chief encouraged the troops to develop their skills to continuously provide general engineering support to units in the Visayas Command Joint Operational Area. He also highlighted the transformational development of the brigade to Combat Engineer Regiment (CER), which is a step forward to increase the combat effectiveness of the command as it transitions from internal security to territorial defense operations.
