Army troops gear up as Super Typhoon “Egay” intensifies

The Philippine Army troops, through the 525th Engineer Combat Battalion (525ECBn) of the 51st Engineer Brigade (51EBde), geared up as Super Typhoon Egay continues to escalate on July 25, 2023, at Camp Atienza, Libis, Quezon City.

The 525ECBn equipped its Disaster Response Operations TEAs (Tools, Equipment, Accessories) for the possible deployment of troops, which includes the preparation of the necessary gear and equipment to assist the stranded passengers, conduct rescue and relief efforts, and facilitate clearing operations in typhoon-stricken areas.

Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines and Commanding General, Philippine Army Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. vowed to ensure the functional preparedness of the Army’s DRU teams in assisting the community during national emergencies. “Your Philippine Army is always ready to help and serve the communities, especially in times of calamities and other natural disasters,” Gen. Brawner said.
