The Philippine Army mobilized the 525th Engineer Combat Battalion (525ECBn) of the 51st Engineer Brigade (51EBde) to conduct Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations in Laoag, Ilocos Norte amid the heavy devastation of Super Typhoon “Egay” on July 26, 2023.
Two light Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams, composed of 65 troops boarded in two KM450 military trucks and two SADKO trucks, will render calamity assistance to all the communities affected by floodings, landslides, and flashfloods caused by heavy rains brought by Super Typhoon Egay.
Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines and Commanding General, Philippine Army Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. lauded the 525ECBn for their preparedness and immediate response to conduct HADR operations for the safety of residents in the flood-prone northern towns of Luzon
