The Philippine Army joined the nation in commemorating the 127th martyrdom anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal in a flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony at the Rizal Monument, Rizal Park, Manila on December 30, 2023.
The Philippine Army's Security and Escort Battalion joined the AFP-wide contingent in rendering ceremonial honors during the ceremony led by President and Commander-in-Chief Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. AFP Major Service Commanders which include Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido likewise graced the event.
The President together with the First Family raised the Philippine flag during the ceremony with the theme “Rizal: Pundasyon ng Kahapon, Isinasabuhay Ngayon.” The President was then joined by the military host, AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. in the wreath-laying rite at the Rizal Monument.
