Army Chief lauds Jungle Fighters on 2ID’s 48th founding anniversary

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido lauded the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division during the unit’s 48th founding anniversary celebration with the theme “Matatag, Matapat at Maaasahang Tagapagtanggol ng Timog Katagalugan” at Camp Gen. Mateo Capinpin, Tanay, Rizal on April 12, 2024.
 
Lt. Gen. Galido, during his Talk to Troops, lauded 2ID troops for their contribution to the Army’s pivot to territorial land defense. “Ang bawat isa sa inyo ay magigiting na mandirigma. Buo ang tiwala ko sa inyong kakayahan at dedikasyon sa ating tungkulin at misyon,” the Army Chief remarked.
 
“Your division plays a crucial role in eliminating and insurgency and terrorism while strengthening the bonds in your area of responsibility,” Lt. Gen. Galido added. 2ID troopers, known for their moniker Jungle Fighters, stand as the guardians of the provinces of MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) and CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon).
 
The Army Chief, who was accompanied by 2ID Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong, also led the ribbon-cutting rites for refurbished and newly built facilities within Camp Capinpin such as the Gen. Miguel Malvar Grandstand, Tagapagtanggol Fortress, 2ID Mess Hall, and barracks for personnel.
